Professional Development
Delivering innovations to the global minerals industry through quality professional development and training.
SMI Knowledge Transfer (SMI KT), a business unit of JKTech, is a unique professional development initiative, offering professional development and training courses and workshops to the global resources sector from exploration through to mine closure and relinquishment.
Formed through the merger of the JKTech training unit and ACMER (the Australian Centre for Minerals Extension and Research) in 2009, SMI Knowledge Transfer is able to draw upon the expertise of leading scientists and engineers from the six centres of the Sustainable Minerals Institute at the University of Queensland, as well as specialists from JKTech, the minerals industry and government agencies. These specialists enable the delivery of high quality, innovative professional development programs and training courses on a wide range of topics related to sustainable development and the efficient operation of the minerals industry. Topic areas include:
- ore characterisation,
- mining and geology,
- geo-metallurgy,
- mineral processing,
- applied statistics
- community engagement,
- safety and risk management, and
