Measurement, Modelling and Simulation of Flotation Circuits

This course provides attendees with an overview of the AMIRA P9 flotation concepts, understanding of cell characterisation equipment available, methods for measuring and optimising flotation cells and circuits, and ways of obtaining more information out of current sampling and characterisation methods.  It includes half a day of simulation using JKSimFloat V6.

This course can be run as a 3-day condensed course, or a 5-day course, including a practical component and covers additional material in each module.

Course Objectives

  • Introduce the principles and development of the AMIRA P9 flotation model
  • Introduce various techniques for measuring important parameters in industrial cells
  • Demonstrate the effect of changing cell operating conditions on cell performance
  • Introduce the features of JKSimFloat V6.1PLUS

Course Outline
The topics covered include:

  • Introduction to flotation optimisation
  • Surveys and sampling
  • Mechanics of flotation and cell hydrodynamics
  • Froth recovery and entrainment
  • Residence time
  • Principles of Floatability component estimation
  • Simulation

This course is run in a series of modules, with tutorials after selected topics.  There is a component of hands-on computer work with spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel as well as using JKSimFloat V6.1PLUS.

Course Materials

All attendees receive a copy of the Course Notes, plus Excel spreadsheets and a set of relevant journal articles on disc for many of the methods discussed.

Course Attendees

This workshop is designed for those who wish to advance their knowledge of the tools available to improve flotation circuit performance.

There are no prerequisites for attendance at this course.
