The JKTech Mineral Liberation Analyser (MLA) provides quantitative analysis of mineral and material samples.  The power of scanning electron microscope technology is unlocked to perform targeted mineralogical analyses automatically.

Chris Hamilton, Chief Mineralogist for Barrick Gold Corporation, using MLA technology at Barrick's Technology Centre in Vancouver, Canada.

Recovery and grade in mineral processing is strongly determined by grain size distributions in the ore and in the beneficiation products, mineral liberation size and mineral associations.

Traditionally, the measurement of these core characteristics was only carried out to a limited extent, and the measurements employed optical microscopy and/or a semi-automated SEM.

These methods were time consuming, costly and usually produced only semi-quantitative results from data sets that were too small to be statistically useful. The MLA vastly increases the speed and accuracy of liberation analysis, while introducing a high degree of measurement automation. Routine measurements are now a reality.

The MLA system comprises:
. An off-the-shelf FEI Quanta scanning electron microscope (SEM);
. An energy dispersive X-ray analysis system (EDS) and
. The MLA software suite developed by JKTech.
