Bruce joined JKTech in July 2009 as Senior Training Coordinator of the new SMI Knowledge Transfer unit, having originally joined ACMER in January 2008 as the Education and Training Coordinator.

His background includes work on Au, U, Sn and Coal exporation projects as a field assistant and an exploration geologist in the early 1980's.  In 1985, Bruce commenced a 22-year career teaching geology and mathematics in both state and private secondary schools.  He had a two year break from teaching in 1996 while he worked with the Queensland Mining Council as their Education Coordinator.

Since 1999, Bruce has coordinated the Australian Student Mineral Venture ASMV - an initiative of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Endowment Fund, which is aimed at attracting more of Australia's brightest students into the minerals industry.
