Dr Ying Gu joined the JKMRC in 1996 as a Senior Research Fellow to start the development of the Mineral Liberation Analyser (MLA).   He is currently the Manager of the MLA Group with overall responsibility for the continued development of the MLA system and its application across a broad range of areas.

Before joining JKMRC, Dr Ying Gu worked as a Research Scientist with CSIRO QEM*SEM group(1995 - 1996) and as a Research Mineralogist for WMC Resources Kambalda Nickel Operations (1992 - 1995). Ying Gu obtained his B.Sc (1982) and M.Sc. (1985) from Nanjing University, PR China, Ph.D (1993) from Monash University, and Graduate Diploma in Computer Studies (1996) from Murdoch University.
