Dan Alexander graduated from the University of Queensland in 1993 with a Bachelor of Engineering degree (honours) in chemical engineering. After graduation, he worked as a metallurgist at the WMC Ltd Kambalda Nickel and Mt Magnet Gold operations.

From 1995 to 1997 Dan undertook a PhD in flotation modelling at JKMRC and continued this project on a part-time basis since until its completion in 2007.  In 1997, he re-joined WMC Ltd as the technical superintendent of the Kambalda Nickel Operations where he managed several technical projects. In 2000, Dan joined JKTech, specialising in flotation modelling. He has developed steady state models of many flotation plants both in Australia and across the world.

2005 saw Dan take over the role of Operations Manager for JKTech.  Part of this role is to lead his strong team in the areas of comminution, flotation and production accounting consulting services; training services; laboratory services and software sales.
