Rob graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa in 1995 with a Bachelor of Engineering degree (honours) in Chemical Engineering.

After graduation, he worked as a Plant and Project Metallurgist with Gold Fields of South Africa at their gold, platinum and base metal operations.

From 1998 to 2000 he moved to the University of Cape Town where he worked as a Research Engineer for the AMIRA P9 Project.  This included operating and managing the AMIRA P9 mobile pilot flotation plant.

In 2001 he joined the JKMRC where he completed a PhD in flotation modelling and simulation. 
In 2004 he joined Hatch and Associates as a Project Engineer working on the design of Nickel Refineries.

Since 2005 he has been with JKTech specialising in flotation modelling. He has assisted in the development of steady state models of many plants in Australia and around the world.
