David Hatton graduated from the University of Cape Town in South Africa with a Bachelor of Pure Mathematics degree.  This was followed with a first class honours degree in Industrial Mathematics in 2000. 

In 2001, David began a PhD at the University of Cape Town in the Minerals Processing Research group.  This project involved developing a steady state predictive flotation simulator (to be submitted in 2007).

David follows his interest in Mathematics through the coaching of the South African Mathematics Olympiad team.  Since 2003, David has been Director of Training of the national team and has led the team to numerous medals both the Pan African and International Mathematics Olympiads.

David joined the JKTech Flotation team at the beginning of 2007.
