Alister graduated in 1970 with a Metallurgical Engineering degree from the University of Melbourne.  His experience in mineral processing has included 4 years at Amdel, 2 years with Jennings Mining in Geraldton WA, 4 years with Bougainville Copper and 7 years at Minenco (later Riotinto TSA) in Melbourne.  He also obtained a Post Graduate Diploma of Natural Resources from the University of New England in 1980.  Using this qualification, he was employed in the field of environmental studies for 3 years with consulting engineers Cameron McNamara in Brisbane, before returning to mineral processing at Bougainville Copper.

Alister joined JKTech in early 1998 and was initially employed in the software group, mainly working on software maintenance, design and testing, as well as in the preparation of help files and manuals.  He later spent 3 years as the JKTech laboratory test-work coordinator, generating proposals and reporting on tests carried out at JKTech and under license in various laboratories world-wide.  Alister joined the PARS team early in 2006 where he had a consulting and client support role.  With the sale of PARS to Mincom at the end of 2006, Alister has once more taken on a software support & maintenance role at JKTech.
